What to Expect
We know visiting a new church can be intimidating, but it's our desire for you to be completely comfortable and relaxed while you're at RCC.
With that in mind we have provided answers on this page to some frequently asked questions. If you have any questions this page does not address, please feel free to contact us ahead of time or ask one of our volunteers at the Information Center in the lobby when you arrive.
- When is your service?
- What should I wear?
- How do I get to RCC?
- Where should I park?
- What is your music like?
- Where do my children go?
- Am I expected to put money in the offering?
- Will I be singled out during the service?
When is your service?
Our service is on Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m., and typically lasts about two hours.
What should I wear?
Please wear whatever makes you feel comfortable. On any given Sunday you will see some wearing shorts and a t-shirt, others wearing suits and ties, and everything in between. You'll fit in no matter how you choose to dress, so please wear something in which you feel comfortable.
How do I get to RCC?
Riverside Community Church is located right off of I-95 exit 80 in Harford County, Maryland.
From I-95, take exit 80 north toward Churchville. Make your second right onto Creswell Road. (The first right leads to a State Highway Administration area and is easy to miss.) After half a mile, turn left on Carsins Run Road. After about half a mile you will see RCC on your right.
Where should I park?
Our main parking lot is right at the end of the church's driveway. You may park in any available spot, as we do not have any reserved parking with the exception of designated handicap spaces. We have an additional gravel parking lot past our main parking lot. If you cannot find a space in our main parking lot, you will almost certainly be able to find a space in the gravel parking lot.
What is your music like?
We sing and worship to a diverse mix of music, from classic hymns in a contemporary style to modern praise and worship songs. We worship to music from artists of many different styles and backgrounds.
As a warning, our music can be on the loud side at times, especially during faster songs. It is not nearly as loud as a concert and so long as you do not have sensitive hearing you should not experience any discomfort. If you do have sensitive hearing, you may wish to sit closer to the back so you are further from the speakers.
Where do my children go?
We have a place for your children infant-aged through fifth grade. As a general rule, parents take their children with them into the sanctuary. After our offering, or sometimes right before our message, we will flash '00' (two zeroes) on a small screen next to our leftmost projector screen. When these numbers appear you will see a mass exodus of children and some parents from the main sanctuary. Join them! There will be volunteers at the door and Information Center if you have any question as to which classroom your child or children should go.
Please also feel free to visit our children's classrooms before the service to meet your child's teachers and see our children's classrooms. They are located down the hall from our lobby.
Am I expected to put money in the offering?
If you are visiting with us, you are our guest, and we do not expect you to place any money in the offering. You are welcome to give if you would like, but you are equally welcome to let the offering plate pass you by.
Will I be singled out during the service?
Absolutely not. However, we would like to invite you to join us after the service in our Connecting Point room to meet Pastor Jason and some of our other church leaders. We'll have snacks and refreshments for you and your family and would love to learn your story and answer any questions you might have.
